Found the gem near my air bnb. Food was good and staff was friendly. I think the price was fair, however I’m from Chicago and used to sides like rice and beans being included. Also a little chilly inside. Would nonetheless come back again!

Wow! I no longer have to trek down into South Philly for authentic Mexican food! The flavors were authentic. Generous portions. Really loved the beef tongue tacos. The consomme on my friend's plate was delicious - i think i stole half of it during our meal, lol. Service was fast and friendly. Nice decor and atmosphere. I'm so happy this restaurant opened in our neighborhood. I wish I had come by sooner, but I have been driving past it for weeks now with much skepticism due to the many mediocre "Mexican" restaurants in University City. I'm impressed! I'll be back again.

Recently moved to the area and tried this place out on a whim. Wow very impressed in every aspect ! First off the food exceeded my expectations. The Verde and roja salsa were both delicious with their fresh made tortilla chips. I ordered a steak burrito- it came out with a beautiful presentation and a mound of guac. The proportions of ingredients inside were perfect and the meat was cooked with care (sometimes can be chewy at other locations). The service was quick and hospitalable making me feel like a welcome guest. The beautiful mural on the wall and artistic light sources really add to the ambiance. I will most definitely return

Me & my hubby moved down here from Scranton where his mom owned her own Mexican restaurant. It's been so hard to find a good place that had all the true flavors that we were used to. We will look no further! This place is PHENOMENAL. Flavor and quantity are right on point. The menu options were just like home and even better. We got the Don Barriga torta and the birria quesadilla. Soooo gooood. The jamica is also BANGIN, not watered down like everywhere else around. ☺️

Went here for lunch, and the food was so flavorful I ordered some to go for my wife to try. The only reason I gave the restaurant a four is because of the 3D menu presentation of guacamole. Yes, some pages of the menu had guacamole on them...🤷🏾‍♂️ Didn't deter me, but that could bother some people, and I like to be honest with these reviews. The food and service though was worth me coming back very soon. Paid street parking and not wheelchair accessible.

My colleagues and I enjoyed a pleasant lunch together at Don Barriga. They were able to accommodate a large group and were very amenable to accepting a purchase order as payment. The food was great!
